We had the biggest ward there, and ALL of the girls in my ward are awesome. The friendship and unity I saw between my girls amazes me. I love each of them dearly, and would do anything for them .
Instead of passing off the certifications at camp, we did most of them before camp and then we had certification challenges at camp, ward against ward.There was a point system through out camp also, and guess who won....WE DID!
This was on our 5 mile hike. It was a lot of fun. We went ALL over. Explored trails, played on a swinging bridge, and in the river, went over a MASSIVE hill, but th view was totally worth it.
Made good friend with the other Leaders as well. I didn't take any pictures, but I did get a pic with my besties, I'll have to gank it from one of them and post it. We were just as obnoxious way more obnoxious then the girls.
Girls camp songs are my FAVORITE, and one of my leaders from my ward loves them just as much as I do. Well the girls in my stake haven't really sung camp songs in several years, so it was our goal to turn that back around. I brought my banjo and on the first day I taught a 40 min camp song class 4 times in a row....wow, my voice was sore after that. But it was so fun. They were all willing to learn. Then RIGHT after that I was teaching a 20 min lesson about standing as a hero, and I did that 3 times in a row. Then after dinner we had camp fire where we had competitions with other wards and sang MORE camp songs....guess who couldnt just sit there quietly. By then end of day 2 my voice was getting hoarse. Cause on top of all the other stuff I was also shouting directions to a massive group of girls sever times a day. so by bishops night (the BEST night) I had just about lost my voice.
We sang princess pat every night at camp fire. They sang is last year....and they got all the words right, but they just didn't SING it right. So in the music class I had to show them "Sister Rone" style. When everyone is being crazy and silly it's WAY more fun. So every night they wanted to sing princess pat, and guess who that had come up and lead it?
After the evening camp fire/flag ceremony we all went back to our camp sites with our bishops. And guess who has the coolest bishop...WE DO. He came to the flag ceremony in FULL supermen costume. Props to him, he is awesome. The girls just love him too. He did a great devotional paralleling superman to the gospel.Then we had tesimony meeting. Girls camp testimony has always been my favorite. The spirit there is amazing. When that was over Bishop had root beer floats for us.
My assistant camp director and one of the other leaders in the ward (Michelle and Marie) are pyros. Not only did we have a fire every night, but we had a HUGE fire every night. :) And THAT's when the crazy really came out. Party every night, but bishops night was totally the best. After root beer floats bishop said good bye and was headed out when the oldest girls decided we needed to do the Harlem Shake. And guess who comes back? BISHOP. He had to do it with us (still in superman costume) Yes, we got a video, no I can't post it (I don't think the girls want it public)
I pulled out my banjo that night and I played (or tired to play) count your children. I sounded awesome with my raspy voice. We stayed up late that night. Trying to prank, and listening to stories of the other girls who went pranking, and having the ENTIRE group pile into the leaders cabin hiding from some girls they just pranked. oh, my gosh. It was so fun.
Last day everyone was SO tired, but we still managed to have fun. We did bike riding on the last day in our group. I went with just a few of the girls in my ward and we went down the HUGE hill. It was so awesome, we did it 3 times in a row. I was sad to go home. I would go every year if I could. I wish we could do another one this summer, even just a over night camp out with my girls.
My voice still is a little raspy, but I dont' care. It was a freakin bast!
